The Night of Science at Goethe University celebrated its 20th anniversary this year. A diverse program featuring scientific lectures and guided tours allowed attendees to experience the diversity of modern research. Various organizations and institutes presented their work. The ITMP and the TheraNova Innovation Center participated once again this year. 

The Summer School took place in Frankfurt am Main at the end of September 2025. On the first day PhD students presented their current projects, discussed and exchanged ideas. In addition, invited speakers explored the role of AI in drug discovery and the establishment of an European health data platform. A career workshop was held on the second day.

As in previous years, the members of the Innovation Center TheraNova met this spring on the Westend Campus of Goethe University Frankfurt to discuss their projects. Not everything in project and doctoral theses always goes as planned, so this year's event focused on failure. In an informal exchange, all participants had the opportunity to talk openly about their experiences with failures and mistakes during their work, discuss possible solutions and learn from these mistakes. 

The first international symposium ‘Advances in Therapeutic Approaches’ took place in December 2024. The Innovation Center TheraNova organised the event together with PROXIDRUGS and EnABLE. A wide-ranging programme offered insights into current developments in the field of novel drugs and other innovative approaches for the treatment of diseases. 

The Winter School 2024 was organised jointly with the Fraunhofer Cluster of Excellence Immune-mediated Diseases (CIMD) at the Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research in Bad Nauheim. From October 9 to 11, a diverse programme along the 4D's - Drugs, Devices, Diagnostics, Data - was offered.

In 2024, 16 research institutions from the Rhine-Main area have joined forces to form the „Frankfurt Alliance“. On September 28, the Science Festival was held for the first time at the Roßmarkt in Frankfurt. The participating institutions presented their work to the public. The Innovation Center TheraNova was actively involved at the Fraunhofer ITMP stand. 

On 21 June 2024, the Night of Science took place on the Riedberg Campus of Goethe University. The programme included lectures, stands and numerous hands-on activities. The Innovation Center TheraNova, part of the Fraunhofer ITMP, was also represented with a stand.

The Spring School took place on March, 18 2024 on the Campus Westend. After interesting project updates Matthias Götz and Timo Smit from Innovectis - the tech transfer organisation of the Goethe University - gave insights into patents and licensing. 

The Innovation Center TheraNova actively contributed to the House of Pharma annual meeting. Further information can be found here.

In 2023, the Summer School was held at the Maritim Hotel Darmstadt on September 11 to 12. In addition to project updates, invited speakers highlighted various aspects of the development of cell-based therapies. Further information can be found here. 

On June 13, 2023, we organized a pitching event for interested PhD students on the Campus Niederrad, Frankfurt. The PhD students had the opportunity to present their projects to experts from the pharmaceutical industry. In short pitches, the PhD students presented their project ideas to potential investors and tried to convince them of their project idea.

We would like to thank the PhD students for their diverse and exciting contributions. In addition, we thank our invited experts - Janina Nowatzky, Niklas Czeloth and Jochen Maas - for their feedback and valuable suggestions.

The Spring School of the Innovation Center TheraNova took place on March 27, 2023 on the Campus Westend in Frankfurt. Participating PhD students as well as clinician scientists gave presentations and updates on their individual project progress.

In September and October 2022 a seminar series covering aspects of "The development of drugs and medicinal products" was offered by the TransMIT GmbH. Staff members and PhD students of the Innovation Center were invited to join the seminar series. Aimo Kannt provided insights into the identification of targets in the drug discovery process.

In 2022, members of the Innovation Center met on October 12 to 13 at the Erbacher Hof in Mainz for the Summer School.

The Kick-Off Meeting of the Innovation Center TheraNova took place on May 16, 2022. During the meeting all participating groups presented their current projects and discussed possible scientific outcomes.
